BYU Luau 2012

I've been terrible at posting things that aren't baby related. Sorry. I always got kind of bugged about pregnant girls that never talked about anything BUT their pregnancy and I have totally become one. I have since repented and realized that it is really hard to think about anything else when you it is happening to you, and especially if it is your first child.
With that said, here is my first non-pregnancy post.
About two weeks ago, I danced in BYU Luau! I didn't dance last year because, let's face it, there was no way I was getting up at 6:30 every saturday. But, I love doing it and this year was especially great. Our section leaders announced that we were dancing to Ka Manu/ Manu O'o this year by Na Palapalai. I LOVE this song and I have always wanted to learn the hula for it.
Here I am in the very back. I was the second to tallest girl, so they put me there, but I was still pretty visible.
After the whole thing was finished, we all had to get back on stage and sing this song they wrote for Luau. Only a handful of people knew the words and I was not one of them. That might explain the ecstatic look on my face.
The last number of Hawaii section was really nice too. I found this picture on facebook, ain't it pretty?
This was my last Luau. It was a little bittersweet but I am excited for Harris and I to move onto the next stage of our lives. Hopefully I can find a halau wherever we end up!

It's Official!

We had our first ultrasound yesterday and we are happy to report that we are having a baby BOY!
He is happy and healthy and the ultrasound tech said that everything looks completely normal. Here is his head and arm. I kinda like that you can see his tiny ear.
This is his profile shot.
Tiny baby feet!
After the tech measured everything she got this great shot of him sitting right on the probe thing. I looked at the screen and I said, "that's a boy isn't it?" She said, "yes it's a boy!" We were so excited and Harris was just beaming the entire time.
We are so excited to meet our son!

Little Kicks

Hey peeps. Hey. On Saturday night, Harris and I were over at a friend's house and we were watching the Incredible Hulk. We had just had root beer floats and all my stomach gurgling had subsided. All of the sudden I felt a tiny little flutter in my lower abdomen on my side. I whispered to Harris that the baby had moved and he just kinda smiled at me and said, "cool." I didn't mind too much that he had that response since I didn't want to freak out in the middle of a movie we were watching with other people and I'd been saying, "I think that was the baby, but I'm not sure," for days.
Later in the car, I told him that it was definitely the b
aby and he got really excited. It was such a cool feeling and I felt like the baby was saying hi to me.
I have been trying to talk to the baby a little bit. Apparently it can hear my voice so I just say things like, "ok baby, lets go to the bathroom," or "time to do the dishes baby." I know its dumb, but I like it.
I haven't felt it again yet, but apparently I won't for
like another week or so. I am only 15 weeks which is pretty early to feel the baby, but not unheard of.
Obviously, this is not me. I look no where near like this. I am barely showing at all, but this was the best picture I could find to illustrate a little kicking baby.

1+2=3

Notice anything different about me?

Of course you don't. That's because nothing on the outside has changed but on the inside I am 10 weeks PREGNANT!!
That's right, we are expecting little baby Clarke on August 19th and we couldn't be more thrilled!
So far, we have been to one doctor's appointment which was pretty informative and they just made sure our little dragon (that is the baby's nickname) was actually nine weeks. Our next appointment is scheduled for Feb. 16th. I think they will let us hear the heartbeat and do our first ultrasound.
I went off birth control in November and I seriously didn't expect to get pregnant so fast, but so happy that I did. I took the test on a saturday morning while Harris was still sleeping. When I read the result I was elated. I woke Harris up and gave him the positive test (don't worry, I made sure it was clean) wrapped in a onesie that I had drawn on. (I had one left over from a baby shower I threw for a friend.)
He was SO excited and I know he will make a great Daddy. He is already so focused and has been such a great nurse. He runs to the store to get me food I'm craving, (yogurt) makes me dinner, makes sure I take my vitamin and all that good stuff. He is the best husband I could ever ask for.

We feel so blessed to have this new baby coming into our family. It is amazing how our lives have completely changed since we found out, but for the better. I feel like we are more on track and we have a good plan going. We couldn't be more excited and we can't wait to meet baby Clarke!

Museums

Harris and I spent Christmas in DC this year. One thing I really wanted to do was go to the Smithsonian. It was a very fun day. We went to the museum if natural history, the Air and Space museum and the main smithsonian (pictured below).
Spirit of St. Louis! (Do you know why this plane is famous? I'll give major points if you do, I didn't :/ ).

DC is a very fun city and it is always fun to see something new when we visit!

Mayra's Shower

My computer has been seriously out of commission since thanksgiving but thanks to my dear husband I'm back to blogging. Mayra's shower was at the beginning of December and I threw it at my house. We did the traditional games like the toilet paper bride and such and also decorated some panties for Mayra to wear on her big night.
When I went to the store I just bought the cheapest pack I could find and low and behold, they were granny panties. I laughed out loud when I opened them but figured it'd be a bigger canvas. We had a great time decorating those drawers. (Just imagine what Lexie can do with some fabric markers and scissors and you've got yourself a good time.)

It was a lovely shower and I got to know Mayra a little better. She is just a peach and I love having her in our family!

Lark and Kyle

I recently got to be the florist for a friend's wedding and it was so fun! I made the bridal bouquet, centerpieces and aisle arrangements. It was really simple, everything was just babies breath but it was nice to learn the process with something so easy but beautiful!
This was the hall where they had the ring ceremony.
The aisle arrangements tied to the chairs.

Unfortunately I didn't get a good picture of the bouquet when it was fresh. This is at the end of the day and it had been through a lot, but I was really proud of it. :)
The reception hall, the centerpieces were really simple but they turned out pretty nice.
I did a couple of arrangements for the entrance as well.
Lark and Kyle are such a cute couple and it was a pleasure to do their flowers! I also made Kyle's Boutonniere. They were wonderful and I wish them all the best!
